MEIV at Northwestern University Focus Statement

We are students who have come to know Jesus Christ as our personal Savior, and are committed to serving Him as Lord. We come from many different church backgrounds but unite to share our common faith in Jesus and help one another grow as disciples and witnesses of Jesus Christ. We are not a church, however, we attend churches throughout the community where God's Word is faithfully taught.

We seek to be a God-centered, multiethnic fellowship fervently committed to discipleship and evangelism. We hope to engage our campus with the gospel of Jesus Christ and to develop disciples who embody biblical values. Our wish is that students involved in InterVarsity will be marked for a lifetime in several key ways:

Evangelism: to be able to share the message of Jesus Christ and invite others to follow Him.
Spiritual Formation: to practice prayer, personal Bible study, worship, and reliance on the Holy Spirit for growth to Christian maturity.
The Church: to make a lifetime commitment to participate in and serve Christ's body
Human Relationships: to pursue Christian love in fruitful friendships, marriages, and working partnerships.
Righteousness: to grow in understanding of the reality of evil in the human heart and in social structures; and to demonstrate repentance in the context of personal integrity, compassion, and prophetic confrontation.
Vocational Stewardship: to be a steward of personal skills and opportunity so as to bring honor to God.
World Mission: to see the priority of crossing cultural boundaries with the gospel, to learn to hear God's call, and to take one's place in going or sending.
